About Me
My name is Jose. I don’t want to say much about myself because, given the current course of events, I no longer feel that the Internet is a safe, free place to share or expose myself. On the contrary, sharing too much information only means it will be swallowed by bots and likely used against me—to sell me ads, impersonate me, or scam me.
I studied Computer Engineering (or Computer Science) at the University of La Laguna, and later completed the DEA (Advanced Studies Diploma, which would now be equivalent to a master's degree).
My Hobbies
I am passionate about Artificial Intelligence and computer languages, especially compilers. The project I’ve spent the most time on is a BASIC compiler for the ZX Spectrum and other retro machines.
But don’t be fooled, the artificial intelligence I like isn’t the one you know, but the one I dreamed of. The kind that helps humans, not exploits them (I’ll discuss this in a future post).
I also enjoy music, singing, and playing the piano, though I’m not very skilled and don’t dedicate much time to it.
I’ve practiced Tai Chi and meditation regularly for years. In the past, I practiced other martial arts, but I’ve since abandoned those.
