another forum area for other platforms than zx-spectrum

boriel Wrote:Yes, but I like it to be named BBC just precisely for this.
I love BBC computer design. It was really advanced for its age. :!:
It turns out (if I recall correctly) that ZX Spectrum arrived later. I don't know why this machine didn't expand out of UK.

The BBC micro was quite advanced for its time, yes. I think the reason it failed was that it was just a little too user-hostile - compared to the speccy, it needed a lot more incomprehensible coding to work correctly. It's a shame, really. It was a case of "Missed it by that much". There was also, if I recall, a not incosiderable price differential - much more expensive, and usually needed a monitor. Compared to the speccy, which was cheap as chips, and plugged into the TV.

Boriel, one issue with calling the compiler bbc...is there's a certain broadcasting corporation that might object to using the name! You know....<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://bbc.co.uk">http://bbc.co.uk</a><!-- m -->

But don't know if you're interested on it. Anyway: feel free to edit the wiki).

a question - how can we edit there?

yes, i think would be better being at your wiki, but since i don't want to risk on jeopardize, i were most about creating some sketches there to be arranged later (i don't know if is there any kind of etiquette we should follow there in the wiki pages)

i were about creating new wiki pages there, like 'target hardware' with a list of hardware else zx-spectrum, like msx, bbc-micro, mattel-aquarius, apple-II, etc., and one about msx where i would backup that information from springnote.com to there - and, in the meanwhile i were about starting some information about other hardware there, and also helping on its arrangement when more needed.

when accessing <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.boriel.com/wiki/en/index.php?title=MSX&action=edit">http://www.boriel.com/wiki/en/index.php ... ction=edit</a><!-- m --> (copied part of url from wikipedia, since i didn't see any 'edit' button or link), i got: "You must confirm your e-mail address before editing pages.
Please set AND validate your e-mail address through your [[SpecialTonguereferences|user preferences]]."

Yes, create new pages.
I think you should start with a page titled "Other architectures" or the like. Remember ZX BASIC uses ZX_BASIC: name space (look at the pages URLs).
I also need do disable mail confirm, since this is an old security check which is no longer required.

As told before, you have to prefix the URLs with ZX_BASIC: (ZX Basic namespace).
E.g.
<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.boriel.com/wiki/en/index.php/ZX_BASIC:Sample_Programs">http://www.boriel.com/wiki/en/index.php ... e_Programs</a><!-- m --> (Sample Programs)

So, MSX should be ZX_BASIC:MSX (the title will remain MSX).
Keep in mind that ZX_BASIC was the selected namespace at first, to even if the project name is changed to, let's say, BBC, the namespace will remain unchanged in the short term. So always use ZX_BASIC: to avoid name clash with existing pages of other projects (or future ones).

Note: I've already rename your pages to ZX_BASIC:<name>

at <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.boriel.com/wiki/en/index.php/Other_architectures">http://www.boriel.com/wiki/en/index.php ... hitectures</a><!-- m --> i added what i could remember, and at <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.boriel.com/wiki/en/index.php/MSX">http://www.boriel.com/wiki/en/index.php/MSX</a><!-- m --> i started on what i could for now

i added a line at <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.boriel.com/wiki/en/index.php/NES">http://www.boriel.com/wiki/en/index.php/NES</a><!-- m --> because i think would be great this cross-compiler being part of projects like playpower.org

sorry i'm struggling on it - i created some pages with some information, and i don't know how is this way you want to have it arranged (since the information will be "moved" (copied to these wiki pages you mentioned, and removed later?)) - maybe would be better asking you to arrange them, and so will can follow better your orientation?

i think i got it - is it " * Mattel [[ZX_BASIC:Aquarius|Aquarius]] " to " <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.boriel.com/wiki/en/index.php/ZX_BASIC:Aquarius">http://www.boriel.com/wiki/en/index.php ... C:Aquarius</a><!-- m --> " instead of " <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.boriel.com/wiki/en/index.php/Aquarius">http://www.boriel.com/wiki/en/index.php/Aquarius</a><!-- m --> " ?

i'm starting to 'duplicate' everything...

You needn't duplicate: just "move" (rename) the page to it's new name by prepending ZX_BASIC: prefix and it's done ;-)

i saw that your edits appeared like "(Redirected from NES)" - i don't know what you did - i did a cut-paste from ** to *ZX_BASIC* - and kept your edits as they are

On the top page there should be an option to move (rename) the page title (if not, you probably need admin access, but I'm not giving it to anyone else at the moment). Anyway, that's ok. I'll remove duplicated pages.
