The BBC micro was quite advanced for its time, yes. I think the reason it failed was that it was just a little too user-hostile - compared to the speccy, it needed a lot more incomprehensible coding to work correctly. It's a shame, really. It was a case of "Missed it by that much". There was also, if I recall, a not incosiderable price differential - much more expensive, and usually needed a monitor. Compared to the speccy, which was cheap as chips, and plugged into the TV.

Boriel, one issue with calling the compiler bbc...is there's a certain broadcasting corporation that might object to using the name! You know....<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://bbc.co.uk">http://bbc.co.uk</a><!-- m -->
