Her previous one, published now 3 years ago, bringed mixed feelings among the fan community (myself included).

Enya wanted to innovate her style, but some fans weren’t very receptive to this idea because she gets apart of the very known music and sound which characterized her. Others endorsed this decision but, generally speaking, they (we) hoped a bit more of that album.

I remeber that Edanna likes the previous one, and hope this time she does again.

Album release is announced to be on November 10th, and if you have a glance to her site you could hear a single, Trains and Winter rains, which I’ve found very nice!

A RootKit is a program which hides itself from your Computer OS and of course, from you. In some ways it’s very similar to a trojan and, once installed, it becomes really hard to get rid of. In fact, Sony’s version does not seems to be uninstallable (you can ask for its removal at Sony web, though).

Mark Russinovich revealed it in his web. He’s a software IT expert programmer and technician and tells how annoying and difficult was to remove the program from his computer while leaving it stable.

All this mess is related to DRM. Basically, you can’t play your CD in your computer without having installed the bundled software first. Even worse, it blocks your CD unit and also some recording programs, limiting the number of copies to 3. Other CD recording programs, such as Nero, have been reported to stop working, and sometimes the logical CD volume has disappeared from the computer.

I’m a bit concerned, because other manufacturers could start releasing their own DRM limiting software, and it could be incompatible with the current one, or even worse, leave your system unstable. Other terrifying possibility is Microsoft to release its own DRM with a, let’s say, Service Pack 3

I repeat, the music is Free. You can download it for free, and redistribute and copy it at no cost.

This song was used for a commercial advertisement of a TV in Japan (I think). However, it was said this song was also an advance of her new album release almost finished. This was inmediately denied in the Enya’s site, even by Enya herself.

The web design has changed, and now shows new and interesting details for the unconditional fans. All in flash.
The map after the intros was the thing that really got my attention. It looks like a castle map, with some interesting rooms:

• The Music Room, where you can enter and listen some of her most known songs.
• At The Watch Tower you can watch this 4 video clips: May it be (included on The Lord of The Rings – The Fellowship of the Ring soundtrack), Orinocco Flow, Caribbean Blue and Only Time
• At the Studio you will take a nice virtual visit. Have you seen the technology they use? Astonishing!!!
• And the most intriguing: A Secret Room, to which you can enter only after typing in the password. You have to guess the key from a riddle you will find in a book of the library

The album is planned to be released on November 21st, and will be entitled Amarantine.
