XPG game console, the PSP competitor

Game Consoles

Many of us do know the Sony PSP (PlayStation Portable). It’s a somewhat pricey console (in Spain it cost about 240€), though it has incredible features. However, in the behind, other things are about to come, like XGP.

At Ounae (Gadgets blog, [Spanish only]) they briefly comment about it, and shows some very interesting pics about this device.

It looks similar to PSP, although its screen can stand vertically, like a little TFT monitor. On the other hand, it’s about 100€ cheaper thanb Sony’s, and its developing system is open. You don’t have to pay any royalty for developing software for this console, unlike its competitor.

These consoles are Linux-based, which widely open the development field (it could be used as a PDA, for example, o execute other non-gaming applications). Let’s see what happens in the near future: we already know not always the most sold is the best.

Currently is too early to comment it deeper, since it has not been released yet. These are most speculations. The original source, at gp2x-emulation.
